DIPLOMATA 380 SCANIA v1.0 ETS2

The Nielson Diplomata 380, a classic high-deck bus from the 1980s, stands as a notable model for the Brazilian bus manufacturer. Its design aimed to compete with other large, comfortable coaches of the time, and the name “Diplomata 380” signifies its maximum height of 3.80 meters.

This bus was built on various chassis from multiple manufacturers, with Scania being a preferred choice due to its powerful and reliable engines, making it ideal for long-distance travel.

Key Features of the Diplomata 380 Scania
Chassis: The Diplomata 380 was constructed on Scania’s BR-116 and subsequently the K 112 chassis, recognized for their air suspension systems, which ensured a smooth and comfortable experience for passengers.
Engine: Initial Scania chassis incorporated the DS11 Turbo engine, delivering around 305 horsepower. Later iterations, equipped with an intercooler, saw an increase in power to 333 horsepower. This robust engine was vital for navigating Brazil’s long and winding roads.
Production: The Diplomata 380 was in production from the mid-1980s until Nielson (later rebranded to Busscar) changed its name in 1989.
Design: Featuring a high floor, or “high-deck” structure, this bus offered an expansive luggage compartment beneath the passenger cabin. This design choice directly addressed market demands for enhanced luggage space and passenger comfort on long-haul journeys.

The combination of the iconic Nielson body and sturdy Scania chassis made the Diplomata 380 a legendary figure in Brazil’s passenger transport history.
