Privacy & cookie policy
Short version: the site is free because it shows ads from Google AdSense. Google uses cookies for those ads, and in the UK and EU it asks for your consent first. We also use Google Analytics to count visits, under the same consent choice. We don't sell your data.

Who we are
EuroTruckSimulator2.uk (https://eurotrucksimulator2.uk) is an independent fan site about Euro Truck Simulator 2 mods, run from the United Kingdom. To contact us about privacy, email us at info@eurotrucksimulator2.uk.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We show ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners (third-party vendors) use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, measure how they perform and limit how often you see the same ad. These include ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites.
- Your choice: if you visit from the UK, the EU or Switzerland, Google shows a consent message the first time you arrive. You can accept, reject, or choose which purposes to allow. If you don't consent to personalised ads, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for things like frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement.
- Changing your mind: use the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that Google's message leaves on the page, or clear this site's cookies in your browser to see the message again.
- Personalised ads anywhere: you can turn off personalised Google ads in My Ad Center, and opt out of many other vendors' personalised ads at youronlinechoices.eu.
- More detail: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages and mods people visit, how they found the site and roughly where they're from (country level). It helps us decide which mods to add next. We can't see who you are, and IP addresses aren't stored by Google Analytics 4.
- Your choice: in the UK, the EU and Switzerland, Google Analytics doesn't set any cookies until you accept them in Google's consent message. If you reject, it only sends cookieless, anonymous pings that Google uses for modelled totals.
- Opting out: you can also block it everywhere with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Other data
- Our own cookies: none for visitors. The only cookies you'll get come from Google, as described above.
- Server logs: like nearly every website, our web server records basic details of each request (IP address, page requested, date and time, and browser type). We use these only to keep the site running and secure, and they're deleted automatically after a short period.
- Admin login: our private admin page sets one cookie, only for the site owner, to keep them logged in.
- Search and filters: searching and filtering mods happens entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
- "Does it work for you?" votes: when you press Works for me or Doesn't work on a mod page, we store your answer together with a scrambled code made from your IP address, so each person counts once per mod (we can't turn the code back into your address). Only the number of "works" answers is shown publicly. Votes are kept per game version and start again after each game update.
- My mods: the list you build with Add to My mods is saved only in your own browser (local storage). It's never sent to us, and clearing this site's data in your browser deletes it. A share link contains only the names of the mods in the list.
- Emails: if you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
- Mod submissions: when you send a mod through Submit your mod, we store what you typed, your screenshot and your email address, plus a scrambled code made from your IP address that we use to stop spam (we can't turn it back into your address). Your email stays private and is only used if we have a question about your mod. Rejected submissions are deleted after 30 days. If your mod is approved, the page shows the author name and links you gave us, never your email. Ask us any time to delete your submission or your mod's page.
Mod pictures: YouTube and Steam
Some mod pages show the mod author's own preview picture and screenshots from Steam Workshop, or screenshots the author published on Imgur or Postimages. They're loaded directly from those image servers (images.steamusercontent.com, i.imgur.com, i.postimg.cc), so those companies can see your IP address, as with any picture on the web. No Steam cookies are set. See Valve's privacy policy.
Other mod pages show a picture from a YouTube video. The picture is loaded from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com), so YouTube (Google) can see your IP address. The video player itself only loads when you press play, and it uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once you press play, Google's privacy policy applies.
Links to other sites
Download buttons take you to other websites such as Steam or a mod author's site. They have their own privacy policies, which we don't control.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. For data collected by Google for advertising, use the Google links above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If we change how the site uses your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
