ETS2 bus mods for 1.61: our coach, passenger and map picks

Want to drive a bus in Euro Truck Simulator 2? Choose your vehicle first, then decide whether you also want passenger jobs or a different map. These picks cover long-distance coaches, city buses, passenger transport and a full-scale Turkish map, with links to each creator's official download page.

How we selected these: the authors list ETS2 1.61 support, either explicitly or within their supported version range. We checked the published descriptions and requirements; we have not play-tested these mods. “Best” here means useful options for different kinds of bus driving, not a performance ranking. Check the current release on the author's page before installing.

1. Choose the right kind of bus mod

A bus-shaped vehicle, passenger jobs and a bus map are three different things. Decide what you want before downloading a collection of files:

Browse every drivable vehicle in Buses & coaches. Passenger add-ons remain in Gameplay, and maps remain in Maps, so their requirements stay clear.

2. Long-distance coach picks

Metalsur Starbus 3 405 — an Argentine double-decker

ARBusMods' Metalsur offers Scania K440/K450 chassis choices, Argentine liveries, animated doors and luggage compartments. It is a useful starting point if you want a double-decker with a South American fleet identity. The author recommends Mapa Ceibo for the setting; do not treat that recommendation as proof that any map combination works.

Niccoló New Isidro 3 — Mercedes-Benz or Scania chassis

Another ARBusMods coach, with Mercedes-Benz O500RSD and Scania K440 choices, animated doors and luggage compartments, and Argentine liveries. Compare its chassis options and screenshots with the Metalsur before choosing your vehicle. Its game-version listing does not confirm integration with the official Coaches DLC's passenger jobs.

Busscar Vissta Buss 1999 — a classic Mercedes-Benz coach

Cristhian [BR]'s release is based on the Mercedes-Benz O-400 RSE chassis. It gives the list a different era and body style from the modern official DLC coaches. The author's listed game-version range includes 1.61; that is a published compatibility claim, not our own road test.

Marcopolo Paradiso G6 1200 — another long-distance option

The Paradiso G6 1200 offers a Marcopolo body on Mercedes-Benz running gear. Read its page for the model credits, current release and installation notes. Compare its screenshots with the Busscar before choosing the appearance you want.

3. City buses: Caio and Mascarello

City-bus bodies offer a different look from a touring coach. These three releases by Carlos Daniel provide multiple chassis choices. For 1.61, use the version-labelled manual download in the author's Workshop description. The sources offer separate files for 1.61 and above, and for 1.60 and below. We have not separately established which versions the Workshop subscription builds support.

• Caio Apache VIP V: the widest chassis choice in this urban selection, with 20 configurations listed by the author.
• Caio Millennium V: two chassis choices covering Volvo and Mercedes variants.
• Mascarello GranVia 2024: six conventional and midi chassis configurations.

Installing an urban bus does not turn the ETS2 road network into a full city-bus simulator. Look separately at the passenger system and map you intend to use.

4. Passenger mods: check the job system separately

Passenger mod [Legacy] by Cristhian [BR] adapts the trailer system to provide passenger loads through Quick Jobs and the Freight Market. Its boarding locations are companies; the author says it cannot add jobs to standard bus stations without map and prefab changes.

Read before installing: the author requires Advanced Trailer Coupling to be disabled and recommends easy or automatic parking. If jobs have not appeared, their notes suggest advancing game time. Read the mod page for the full setup.

This is a Legacy release: the author says updates will stop when the Coaches DLC arrives. Its passenger system is separate from the DLC's announced services, and Coaches compatibility has not been verified. It is an option for an existing 1.61 mod setup, rather than a promise of support after launch.

5. Bus maps and company branding

Real Bus Turkey 1:1 Map

This map by Realistic Gameplay Tv covers the Bursa, İnegöl and Bozüyük area at full scale, with bus stations, local roads and truck loading opportunities. Its purpose is a more local driving setting. The listing requires all map DLC except Nordic Horizons; check the author's latest dependency list before downloading.

Follow the map's profile and module instructions rather than dropping it into an existing ProMods setup. Our listing does not establish that a combined setup works.

Estrella Blanca and Mobility ADO company logos

For a coach-company identity, Pasion por Armar's Estrella Blanca and Mobility ADO packs add company-icon choices inspired by Mexican operators. These are branding add-ons. They do not supply a bus, a route network or passenger jobs.

6. How to drive a bus in ETS2 using mods

1. Check your game version. Pick a mod release whose author lists that version, including any required dependencies.
2. Back up your profile. Use a separate test profile when trying a new vehicle or map combination.
3. Get the file from its official page. Subscribe on Steam Workshop, or follow the author's manual-download instructions. Keep ready-to-use .scs files intact.
4. Activate the mod in Mod Manager. Follow the author's order for required files. See our installation guide for the mod folder and activation steps.
5. Find the bus where the author says it is sold. Many use the Mod Dealer. Check the mod page if it is missing rather than installing an unrelated unlocker.
6. Add passenger work only after checking compatibility. A drivable bus does not, by itself, guarantee passenger jobs.

If the game crashes, restore your backed-up setup or investigate on the test profile. The crash-log checker can highlight clues; it does not prove which mod caused a problem.

7. Bus mods versus the official Coaches DLC

SCS Software's Coaches DLC is scheduled for 12 November 2026. Its announced features include three licensed coaches and Quick, Contract and Tourist passenger jobs. Community buses and passenger add-ons are separate projects with their own requirements. Our DLC-versus-mods comparison explains the differences.

Compatibility after launch: an author listing 1.61 does not confirm that the mod supports a later game update or the new Coach Mode. Check for an explicit update from the creator before using it on a profile you want to keep.
