About this mod

Lighting Nova rebuilds ETS2's sun and sky lighting from a single model of the atmosphere instead of hand-picked colours. Sunsets turn red for the right reasons, evenings are warmer and hazier than mornings, and nights are genuinely dark, so your headlights and the street lamps do the work. On cloudy days shadows soften and colours fade, as they do in real life.

It also brings 205 new sky textures made from 27 real HDR sky photos, covering 16 weather types at every hour of the day, plus moonlit night skies with the Milky Way. Roads stay wet for longer after rain. It covers the whole base map and every map DLC and is built for 1.61.

Features

  • Lighting regenerated for every sun height, in clear and bad weather
  • 205 new skies from real photos, 16 weather types
  • Dark nights with a Milky Way star map
  • Softer shadows and haze when it's overcast
  • Retuned LED-white headlights and brighter brake lights

How to install DBM Lighting Nova

  1. Open the mod's Steam Workshop page (sign in to Steam if asked) and press Subscribe. Steam downloads it for you.
  2. Start Euro Truck Simulator 2. On the profile screen, open the Mod Manager.

Load order: Put it above texture mods such as DBM Road Textures, and below DBM Headlights Plus. Map mods go below all DBM mods.

Notes for this mod

  • It's a big download, about 4.7 GB. If the game crashes while loading, the author advises a bigger Windows page file.
  • Tip from the author: open the developer console and use g_set_skybox to flick through the new skies.
