Realistic headlights and flares, proper darkness, real day length and better rain at night: four free mods in the right order.

Night is where ETS2 looks most different with mods. This set makes headlights throw a real beam, gives oncoming traffic believable lights instead of white blobs, keeps nights the length they really are, and makes rain at night look and sound right.

Better Flares comes from the SCS forum and the rest from Steam Workshop. Better Flares' Traffic add-on needs Sound Fixes Pack, which is why it's in the set.

DLCs you need: none, the base game is enough.

Load order

Top to bottom, as in the game's Mod Manager: the mod at the top wins when two change the same thing. Other mods you use go around these, following their own notes.

    Enable the base mod and both Headlights parts (Headlights.1 and Headlights.2). Its author says the Traffic add-on must be above Sound Fixes Pack.

Tips

  • Don't add a second headlight mod such as Realistic Vehicle Lights: it may overlap with Better Flares' Headlights add-on.
  • If you use a traffic pack, get the compatibility patches linked in Better Flares' forum thread.
